Company search: overview

The Corporate Intelligence search type queries official company registers and related statutory sources — company registration records, directors and officers, sanctions and watchlist matches, Legal Entity Identifiers, trademarks, registered addresses, and US securities filings. Reach for it when your lead is a company name (or a company-linked person, address, or identifier) rather than a username, email, phone number, or image.

Reach for Corporate Intelligence when you want to:

  • Look up a company’s registration record — its directors, filings, and corporate structure across many jurisdictions (the Company Search (Data: OpenCorporates) Module).
  • Query the UK statutory register directly — companies and officers registered in the UK (the Company Search and Officer Search Modules on CompaniesHouse - UK).
  • Screen a person or company against sanctions and watchlists (the Person Sanctions and Company Sanctions Modules on OpenSanctions).
  • Resolve identifiers, filings, and other registers — Legal Entity Identifiers on GLEIF, registered addresses and trademarks on OpenCorporates, and US SEC filings.

This search type exposes ten Modules. For the full breakdown of each — its data source, cost, and what it returns — see Company modules & options.

Corporate Intelligence follows the same search composer flow as every other search in UserSearch — see How UserSearch works for the general model.

  1. In the composer header, open the Search type selector (the dropdown with a chevron) and choose Corporate Intelligence (shown with a briefcase/folder icon). The active search type is drawn in the coral-orange accent colour.
  2. Pick a Module from the grid. The grid is single-select: the chosen tile is drawn with a coral-orange border, and selecting one deselects the others. Each tile names the search it runs and, in brackets, the data source behind it — for example (Data: OpenCorporates). Selecting a tile loads its description, its Cost per search line, and its query form. In the captured baseline Company Search (Data: OpenCorporates) is the selected tile.
  3. (Company Search only) narrow the query. Beneath Company Search (Data: OpenCorporates) the composer shows two inline options: a Jurisdiction dropdown (set to All jurisdictions in the captured state) and an Exclude inactive checkbox that drops dissolved or struck-off entities.
  4. Enter your identifier in the query field. For Company Search this is a Company Name field with the placeholder e.g. Apple Inc.; for the other Modules it is the value named on the tile (a director, officer, address, LEI, trademark term, free text, or a person/company name for sanctions).
  5. Confirm the Cost per search line beneath the input, then select Search Now (the coral-orange button with a magnifier icon).

Every Module shows its price on a Cost per search line, denominated in Credits, drawn from your main (Global) search-credits pool.

  • Company Search (Data: OpenCorporates) — the lead Module — shows $0.50 on its Cost per search line in the captured state (a fixed amount).
  • The Credit cost of the other nine Modules was not captured. Confirm the Cost per search line on the tile before you run any paid Module.

See Credits & pricing for the full cost model.

Running a search populates the Search Results panel on the right, with the standard header counters — Found (green), Enriched (orange), and Connections (white) — over a results table whose columns adapt to the Module you ran, plus Details and Graph tabs for the selected row.

For how to read and verify those results, see Reading Company results and the general concept Found, Enriched & Connections.
