The SEC (USA) — the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission — is the federal agency that regulates American securities markets and requires public companies, funds, and certain individuals to file disclosures. Those filings are published through the SEC’s EDGAR system. UserSearch integrates SEC full-text search as a Module, letting you query the agency’s filing corpus directly inside the platform.

What it is

The SEC collects mandatory disclosures from issuers and market participants — annual and quarterly reports, registration statements, prospectuses, insider-transaction reports, ownership disclosures, and correspondence. UserSearch’s SEC (USA) Module runs a full-text search across this body of filings, so you can find a company, person, or phrase as it appears inside the documents themselves rather than only in structured index fields.

What data it returns

For a matching filing, the SEC data source can surface:

• Filing entity — the company, fund, or filer named in the document
• Form / filing type — the category of disclosure (for example annual, quarterly, registration, or ownership forms)
• Filing date and reporting period
• Document text and excerpts where your search terms appear
• Links to the underlying filing on the SEC’s system
